Lets talk about Linkedin

- Do you have a LinkedIn account?
- Does anyone search for jobs on LinkedIn?
- LinkedIn is the place to be when it comes to job hunting!
- If you have an account, we bet it’s just been gathering dust and one of those things that you have but don’t really know what to do with it (you are definitely not alone with that!):

Well here’s PDR's top tips for job searching on LinkedIn:

• Add a banner to your profile to highlight that you are open to job opportunities you can also edit your profile picture to state that you are “open to work”!
• Be clear about the type of work you are looking for and add this to your bio
• Make sure that your employment history is up to date and correct
• Think about your ideal employer or companies you would be interested in working for
• Do research companies within a specific industry you would like to work for, follow their business pages
• Search on LinkedIn for the Hiring Managers within those companies and connect, engage and have a chat to show them what experience you have and if they have any vacancies – you don’t know if you don’t try
• Think about your location, are you only looking to travel within a certain distance or are willing to travel? Use of public transport or driving
• Add up to 3 hashtags to the end of your content i.e #jobseeking #jobhunting
• Search the jobs section on LinkedIn. You will find lots of job opportunities that may not be on the usual job boards (CV library, Reed, Total Jobs etc.,)
• LinkedIn is predominantly all about networking, it’s basically the largest platform for networking, so post that you are “open to work” and seeking a new role, keep banging that drum and recruiters and potential clients will see your content
• Be creative, LinkedIn right now is all about personality, yes it’s predominantly a business platform but we are all unique and have our own individualism so post content that is important to you, whether it is your favourite cup, latest book you are reading, what gives you inspiration, view from a walk or thought of the day that’s what gets engagement and gives connections a insight into the real you!
